Primary School

IMoH established a school in Mapou in 2009 - the only free school on La Gonave. Starting out with classes under the trees, we now have six classrooms that are able to sit 100 children. Students from all over La Gonave and even other parts of Haiti come to recieve a first class eduction. Currently our school serve grades Kindergarten through 5th grade. Students range in age from 5 to 18.

We need your help to build an addition of two classroom to accomodate additional students and allow us to offer 6th and 7th grade classes.

Sponsorships

A child-sponsorship program will be instrumental for the children to attend classes held at the Mapou School. Such a program will include providing the funds for each child to cover a school uniform, a hot meal each day, books, a pair of tennis shoes, and a photo identification card. Upon request, the picture of the child sponsor will be provided.
